Guantanamo Bay, important or unimportant? The bay in itself is located in the harsh tropical weather of the Cuban area. The bay is important in some ways but does its cons overpowers the pros. It is beneficial to the U.S because it keeps a hold of future or dangerous terrorists. It has the prisoners confess to their wrong doings but under the circumstances of torture, it is proven everyone will crack at some point so whether the information is true or false it is the answer the Government is looking for. Although they have gotten many true confessions these confessions are useless in court and other political situations because of the torture being used to get the confessions makes the information useless. If torture is used the confessions are not valid because anyone will crack under a certain amount of torture therefore if a prisoner wants the torturing to come to a cease he will admit to anything. One prisoner once pled guilty to crimes that had never even happened just to get the torturing to stop. The government may get the information they want and need but it is of no use to them because of invalid confessions prove nothing other than torture can get any information out of anyone. Another pro could be that it gives warning to the other terrorists who are thinking about committing a terror attack on the U.S to think twice of his actions, but on the contrary it could also increase the hatred of the middle eastern enemies giving them more reason to attack. Hypothetically speaking if we keep on importing and storing alleged terrorists at Guantanamo it could also have the prisoners scheme of other attacks and ways to strike back on America, hundreds of terrorists being captivated in the same place could lead to disaster. If we close the bay and let them rome free and talk to other terrorists and come up with ways to plan an attack on the U.S. What will happen if hundreds of terrorists are freed and have the ability to go and communicate with other people about how terrible their experiences were at Guantanamo, it could make the U.S look bad and also may start to fuel the fire with the terrorist groups of the world. If the U.S would have used the bay as more of an institution of just clearly storing and keeping an eye on suspected terrorists it might have a more positive aspect than the torture chamber that it is looked at by many today. It seems to be unimportant and virtually useless because of how many problems it has with itself and how little benefits come from it. Almost all of the information the is produced and confessed by the criminals is false and has no use in today’s judicial system therefore having very little affect on the prosecution and imprisonment of these convicted terrorists. Guantanamo needs some major improvements for it to serve an important rule in the world today, let alone it needs some useful information that is of some use to America and the World.

Japans Economic Boom

Japan one of the world powers was not always like that, directly after the war the Japanese suffered a huge depression and were in need of some serious remodeling of their economy. In order to do that the Japanese needed to improve in many areas such as industry goods, automobiles, and more stable and fair government. This would take time and a lot of effort, it would not just happen over night. For years the U.S government had to support the Japanese with supplying goods and food in order to keep from starvation. Soon enough Japan’s economy started to boom and they were now one of the world powers again. Japan went from a poverty struck nation to a world power in lightning speed and were now selling more goods than everyone. Japans private industries had been hit more than anything else forcing them to rebuild from scratch but they overcame that factor. Japan is now a very powerful nation and basically exports 90 % of all goods to U.S so they now have the money flow they can create many other things such as a powerful army, great navy, and other military forces. So can this by beneficial or dangerous to the other nations. Now that they are powerful in all military aspects they now have more power than before. Other nations are now scared of this world power that arose so quickly and with so much force. Was this a force that could have been stopped and should there sales be cut or should the other nations still import goods from Japan making it more and more powerful. The items might be cheap and easy to get but is it really worth being conquered by the Japanese and now being run by the Japanese. If the nations keep buying their goods what will happen is it worth it to find out just to save a little money on plastic goods. If the U.S still imports most of its goods from Japan it does two really bad things, one is it strengthens Japan’s economy and it piles the debt on America. The Japanese are now stronger than almost all of the other nations and have the booming economy to support them and it seems there is almost nothing we can do. If we stop importing goods from Japan we would need to find another super source of goods. What should we do? It is tough choice and it’s almost a loose loose situation if we stop importing Japanese goods we loose more money but if we keep on importing them then we strengthen the Japanese. This might be one of the most important changes in American history and what would be the better choice, it is very tough there are very little positive benefits to all of this. If we do not import goods from Japan the alternate imports may be expensive and might not be mass-produced. On the other hand if we keep on importing goods from Japan we will make it more powerful and make us more susceptible to the Japanese. I do not think it is worth risking the safety of America to buy cheap goods from a powerful nation, if we were to keep on importing goods there would be little we could do to stop it.

On April 18, 1942 American Lieutenant James Doolittle engaged in the most risky air attack on the Japanese. Doolittle and his men flew from a ship about 2,400 miles outside of Japan. The plan Doolittle came up with was to use just enough fuel to go and bomb the Japanese and go and crash land in China, their allied forces. The planes that were used were B-25 Bombers with the name the “Hornet”. The U.S had so much to lose in this attack such as a great plane, many high rank officers, and a loss with their first air strike for the Americans. Although there was a lot to loose there was a lot to gain such as confidence for the Military, a win against the Japanese, and to show Japan that we are powerful and unafraid of them. On the mission there was going to be sixteen bombers carrying a ton of explosives and using over six hundred gallons of fuel. The plan was nearly impossible to succeed but the Americans felt the need to do it. The mission was to bomb Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya and take out the Militant centers, energy areas and industrialized areas. The plan in itself was risky but actually going out and trying to complete what was said is a near death trap, hardly enough fuel, no machine guns, no radio, or many other key factors needed to succeed. The aircraft carrier had stationed four hundred miles outside of Japan and Doolittle knew that he was low on fuel but in fear of an attack on the carrier the bombers had to go for it. The bombers successfully made it to Japan and the first bomb was dropped on Tokyo and soon after the other bombers dropped their bombs too. The planes were now low on fuel and were flying in complete darkness needing to find the landing strip in China, after flying for an extended amount of time the bombers had to ditch their planes and parachuted down. They all landed and were greeted by a Chinese man who helped them contact the American Government. The attack was a success and seemed to be well worth it. The Americans were now confident with their Military and had won their first air battle with Japan. What if they failed? If they Americans had failed they would have lost so much like the confidence in their Military, which was very important in WWII because you needed to be confident with your Militant forces in order to win and be successful. If the plan failed other nations might have looked at the Americans and thought they were weak and seemingly easy to beat. So much to lose and so much to win was the risk truly and absolutely worth it? The Americans had won but if they had lost were the consequences really worth having to deal with, winning was a big deal but not losing was an even bigger deal with this plan of attack. The loss of the battle would have instantly put a doubt in the minds of Americans and completely changed the way we had fought in WWII. If this plan had never been used we still would have succeeded in winning the war and still could have attacked Japan when we were more readily able to fight. Executing this plan of attack was successful but not important enough to loose all that could have been lost.

Why is it that Russia always seems to have an Authoritarian Ruler, is it good or bad?

In Russia the rulers in the past seem to have one big thing in common and that would be that they are Authoritarian rulers from the early Czars to recent rulers like Stalin and many others in between. Russia is a country that is very large and from the start they have had Authoritarian rulers like Peter the Great but that was when everyone had complete rule in their countries. As the years past many countries converted into many different types of rule ranging Democracy to a Constitutional Monarchy. Authoritarian rulers can be great but at the same time terrible, they hold all of the power of the country in their hands and if they are a good ruler it can be beneficial to the country but then most of the time they let the power go to their head. A classic example of power going to someone’s head would be Stalin, he became so obsessed with power he even tried to play god and anyone who questioned his authority was killed. The people of Russia can also benefit from an all powerful ruler if that person knows how to rule a country and knows a good decision from a bad one, many good things can come from it but when you get someone who is more focused on staying in power and gaining more power that is when the system seems to fall apart. Although Stalin is portrayed as a monster in many eyes he is one of the main reasons why Russia is where it is today, he looked at Russia and knew there needed to be some major changes and they had to happen quickly because he saw that war was coming. Stalin industrialized Russia in a record time and because of that Russia in now one of the leading powers of the world. Why is it that no matter what the people of Russia want they end up with a dictator like ruler? Is it strictly because it is what the people of Russia like and deserve or is it just a tradition in Russia. The government of Russia has hardly changed in the last two hundred years, the people of Russia have now started to use a more democratic rule but even though they vote on the ruler he seems to rule well but sooner or later he becomes an authoritarian figure in their government. Do the people of Russia deserve this type of rule? The people of Russia have been through depressions, famine, inflation and many other crippling problems but on top of that the people have a harsh and cruel ruler, what did the Russians do to deserve this? It seems that the Russians seem to not want to do with their own government so they almost always want someone else that they like to rule the country but little do they know what that man is capable of. In Russia the early Czars were not so beneficial to their country most of them were weak and incapable of ruling the country except for a select few. Peter the Great was a great leader accomplishing many good things for Russia early on like westernizing Russia. He also created the Scorched-Earth Policy, which saved Russia from being conquered numerous times. So all in all Russia has had many great Authoritarian rulers but many horrible leaders to, when will Russia ever learn to come up with a better way to rule their country because sooner or later there will be another militant dictator and may cause many deaths and harm to Russia.
